It is the annual Pancake Breakfast
and Pancake Eating Contest at the grange hall in Sugar Grove,
NH. Dani Greene’s family has donated the maple syrup
for the contest. The food was good and it raised money for
a good cause plus the winner got the pewter pitcher trophy.
So it was a win – win for all. That is except for Alanza
Speedwell who was in the pancake eating contest. Down to the
final two, Alanza and Grandpa Greene were at it until Alanza’s
face fell right into her stack of pancakes. Police officer
Mitch Reynolds thinks the Greener Pasture maple syrup could
be the cause of death. He is going to keep his eye on the
entire Greene family - especially Dani. To make matters worse,
a truckload of exotic animals has been let loose in the town.
The kangaroo momma and baby just about caused a riot at the
Stack Shack. Who knows what trouble the rest of these creatures
will cause!
Things to ponder: Who hated Alanza Speedwell enough to poison
her? What is Dani’s real name? Would the exotic animals
be found in time? Has Dani made a friend of Graham Peterson?
This book grabbed me from the get go. The plot will keep
you turning those pages. The humor will be laugh-out-loud
funny at times. There are plenty of suspects to keep you guessing
whodunit. Lot of pancakes…I mean red herrings to keep
you on your toes. I read this book in one day - could not
put it down. The author has included some delicious recipes.
So if you like your mystery with a big dollop of maple syrup,
then you should be reading Drizzled with Death.
