Havenwood, Georgia is the home of Ella Mae LeFaye’s aptly named Charmed Pie Shoppe. Ella Mae not only bakes up the most delicious sweets in town, she adds a dash of magic to her baked goods. Word on the street is that the peach pies are to die for.

When Ella Mae is hired to provide the dessert buffet at a wedding it seems like a dream job. However, problems quickly arise. She and her Aunt Dee discover local beekeeper Melissa Carlisle dead on the floor, and as upsetting as it is, Ella Mae finds herself chasing a rainbow of apparently magical design. This heralds the beginning of her Awakening, as she learns more about her own magical powers.

Then a guest at the wedding she is catering desert for becomes ill and it is Ella’s responsibility to prove that her baking didn’t cause the illness. This could ruin her thriving business and turn her new life upside down.

As things escalate, Ella Mae can only hope that her own abilities will help her to wave her magic wand and set things right in Havenwood again. Of course, she'll have to find the human criminal element as well, and that may not be easy.

Author Ellery Adams has written a delightful sequel to Pies and Prejudice, and fans of her other works, written as JB Stanley and Jennifer Stanley, are sure to want to latch on to this series and get in on the magical ground floor. This would be a good book for mothers and teen daughters to share since both generations are invested in the current trend of magical creatures, and it provides good content to spark conversation. The series would be good for a book group, too.
