Miss An'gel and
Miss Dickee Ducote, two very southern elderly sisters are
happily pet sitting for their friend Charlie Harris' cat,
Diesel. Diesel, a highly unique and intelligent cat, is one
of the main characters in Miranda James' Cat In The Stacks
mystery series.
Their plans for peace, quiet and rest from
the Mississippi heat are shattered when their former sorority
sister, Rosabelle Sultan arrives at their home seeking refuge
from her family. Rosabelle has always been a drama queen,
seeking attention, but the sisters can't turn her away when
she declares that someone in her family is trying to murder
her. It isn't long before said family, her children, their
spouses, and her grandchildren show up looking for her, and
end up moving in as well.
With a houseful of unwanted guests Miss An'gel
and Miss Dickee, their patience sorely tried, find themselves
in the midst of a murder mystery, and web upon web of deceit,
desperation and despicable manners. Will they be able to help
the local police solve not one, but two murders before anyone
else is killed? Will Diesel help point them to clues, and
will his very presence be able to provide comfort to those
left behind?
What
a clever spin-off, this book is from the Cat in the Stacks
series! The Ducote sisters have appeared in those books, along
with Diesel. These ladies are the perfect characters for a
series of their own, and I couldn't put the book down. As
charming as the day is long, this story with its many complex
characters and threads kept me glued to my seat as I turned
page after page. You won't want to miss this debut in a brand
new series, and you'll fall in love with Diesel and want to
read all of the Cat in the Stacks books, too!
