Clyde
Fortune is a retired cop who is looking forward to a nice
vacation in Mexico with her boyfriend, Mac, a detective. Unfortunately,
Mother Nature has other plans and the couple end up stranded
by a blizzard. Stranded with family at a haunted hotel! Given
Clyde's family's proclivity for the supernatural, and Clyde's
penchant for stumbling into murder, you just know this will
be an exciting adventure.
One of
the owners of the hotel has a different vision for the future
of the business and the others aren't too happy about that.
When she, Clarissa Carlisle, is found murdered, and the only
apparent witness is a skittish cat, the team of Clyde and
Mac have their hands full of suspects, clues, and ghostly
happenings. Could the killer be the cook, the handyman, a
member of the knitting group staying at the hotel or, someone
else entirely?
As Clyde
and Mac's romantic relationship continues to grow, it was
great fun to read about their time stranded with her family
and his mother when they should have been alone on the beach
in Mexico. How they handled things shows the depths of their
feelings for each other, and I can't wait to see how things
progress in the next book.
With
no shortage of quirky characters, a yarn bombing contest,
and witty dialogue, Eastman has provided cozy mystery readers
with another winner. This is a fast-paced read that kept this
reader guessing until the very end.
Charming
and eclectic, A Fright to the Death is sure to entertain
you with its fresh take on adding the paranormal aspect to
the cozy genre.
