Holly Miller has returned with all her possessions to the Sugar Maple Inn in Wagtail, VA. She is now a partner in this fabulous hotel with her grandmother Liesel. This tourist town caters to your pets. Right now Holly is busy with the guests – especially the ghost hunting team--Apparition Apprehender. They are in Wagtail to film a pilot for a possible series. Holly is also busy with the bonfire to be held near the haunted Wagtail Springs Hotel.

The bonfire is a big success. The members of the ghost hunting crew are not having a wonderful time. Mallory has been flirting up a storm and causing problems with the crew. When Holly finally gets home, she gets a call from her Aunt Birdie. At four in the morning, Holly rushes to help her aunt. She arrives and finds it was only a ploy to get Holly to visit. Holly leaves and takes the golf cart back to the Sugar Maple Inn. On the way she thinks she sees her dog and cat near the gazebo on the Wagtail Springs Hotel property. As she gets close – Holly sees something floating in the mineral springs located in the gazebo. It is a body and when Holly turns it over – she sees it is Mallory. Holly had better be careful solving this murder--- or she could be scared to death.

Things to ponder: How did Twinkletoes and Trixie get out of Holly's apartment? Who is the man spying on Clementine and her children? Who tried to break into Liesel's kitchen?

This is a fun series and this second book does not disappoint. This is a fast- paced page turner. Once I started reading this book – I could not put it down. Cozy mystery lovers will thoroughly enjoy this read. The author has thoughtfully provided some recipes for people as well as pets. So if you like your mystery with a lot of purrs, then you should be reading The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer.
