Izzy McHale has a cool business. It's a boutique for pets, selling clothing and designer jewelry, baked pet treats, and more. Her friend, Rena is her business partner, and together they are making Trendy Tails Pet Boutique into a thriving, although still young, business. They are now even entering into the pet-wedding arena, with the first ever pupptials to be held in a week. The “rehearsal” for the doggie wedding is a human wedding; that of dear friend Ingrid and her long-lost love, Harvey Nyquist.

Ingrid's a little out of sorts because the tenant who rented her apartment, located above the boutique is staying longer than expected. Yet how could Izzy have known that Ingrid would want to come home early and want to get married right away? So the mysterious writer, Daniel Colona, has stayed, only to make a drop-dead (literally) appearance right in the middle of Ingrid and Harvey's wedding!

When Izzy's beloved Aunt Dolly, deemed the most viable suspect, is arrested and fortunately released on bond, Izzy knows she can't rest until she clears her aunt's name. With more suspects and motives than she knows what to do with, Izzy is grateful for the help of her best friend Rena, childhood friend (and possible romantic interest), Sean, and police officer Jack Collins (also a possible romantic interest).

Love is certainly stirring in the hearts of many of Merryville, Minnesota's residents, but murder comes first. Will Izzy be able to sniff out the killer before she gets snuffed herself?

I really enjoyed this second installment in the Pet Boutique Mystery series. Annie Knox has done another great job with incorporating lovable animals, unique people, a fun business, friendship, romance and murder in a tidy package. While I think I might make a rather good amateur detective myself, since I did figure out the whodunit quickly, the story was so interesting that I was enthralled with the characters and intrigued enough to keep reading straight through until I learned the motive.

If you love a good cozy mystery, especially one with dogs, cats, a ferret, and a wily guinea pig named Gandhi, you won't want to miss Groomed for Murder.
