How many people go to a place called Happy Asses Donkey and Big Cat Rescue wearing a killer dress and gorgeous heels? If you are animal behaviorist Grace Wilde, it really isn't out of the ordinary. Veterinarian Hugh Murray called to tell her an angry tiger has him up a tree. What most people do not know is that Grace has telepathic abilities that let her talk to the animals. Not exactly like Dr. Doolittle, but close enough. Grace saves Hugh and finds out why Boris the Siberian Tiger is so agitated. Boris tells Grace that someone has been taken. Grace finds out that one of the volunteers has not been seen in several days. Based on what the tiger has told her, Grace fears that Brooke Ligner has been kidnapped.

Grace is determined to find Brooke, but the police will not investigate a possible kidnapping based on the word of a tiger. Brooke is on probation for stealing and drugs. Being a volunteer is part of her sentence. Brooke’s parents have told her not to come back if she runs away again, so they will not file a missing person report. The parole officer will not lend a hand either. Looks like Grace will be investigating Brooke’s disappearance on her own. Not exactly alone – she will have to talk to the animals and see if they know anything. Grace had better be careful, or she could end up speechless.

Things to ponder: Was Brooke looking to score drugs from the clinic? Will Grace and Kai ever have a real date? Why is Jack-Jack the donkey refusing to communicate with Grace?

This book offers some heart-pounding moments as well as some very humorous moments of comic relief. I found myself laughing out loud. This is a fast-paced, well-plotted page turner of a read that kept me at the edge of my seat. I found I could not put this book down. I had to find out what happened next. Can’t wait to see what Grace’s next adventure will entail. So if you like your mystery with lots of animals, then you should be reading A Tiger’s Tale.
