Allie
McMurphy is back with another sweet murder in All You
Need is Fudge, the fourth book in the Candy-Coated mystery
series by Nancy Coco. The story begins with Allie and best
friend, Jenn Christensen, working hard to set the fudge shop
in the Historic McMurphy Hotel apart by creating one-of-a-kind
chocolate centerpieces for the annual yacht race, the highlight
of the summer season. But Allie's world is turned upside down
when Mal, Allie's adorable Bichon-Poo puppy, discovers yet
another body, this time floating in the marina's water. When
the body discovered turns out to be Carin Moore, the daughter
of one of the yacht club's most influence families, all fingers
point to Paige, who had a lifelong standing feud with the
deceased. Allie feels that Paige, her boyfriend's sister,
is being wrongly accused and sets forth on bringing in the
killer, before the real facts get fudged over and the wrong
person goes to jail.
I have
been hooked on this series since the first book, All Fudged
Up, was released. Nancy always writes an entertaining
mystery full of intrigue and deliciousness. I was a bit frustrated
with parts of this book because I wanted to strangle Trent,
Allie's boyfriend, with how he handled the situation his sister
was in. But because he finally wised up, I can say I am back
to rooting for him and Allie. There are so many great characters
that are part of this story that make reading each page a
true joy. There is even a special romance, between two beloved
characters, that takes center stage in this story that you
won't want to miss!
I found
this mystery to be an intriguing one that kept me guessing
right up until the last few pages, and even then I was shocked.
Like all of the books in this series, the descriptions will
transport you right to Mackinac Island in Michigan and you
will almost be able to taste the mouth-watering fudge temptations
that Allie is stirring up.
Overall,
All You Need is Fudge was another fun addition to
the Candy-Coated mystery series. It was a fast read with delicious
twists and turns around every corner. And don't forget to
check out the fudge recipes! They are sure to delight your
sweet tooth!
