“San Francisco book-restoration
expert Brooklyn Wainwright's latest project is for the birds,
but it may have her running for her life...”
The Covington Library is hosting an exhibit featuring John
James Audubon's “Birds of America.” There is a
big gala, and Brooklyn encounters her dear friend, Genevieve,
who is very upset, but that's an issue to be dealt with later.
She also meets Jared Mulrooney, who is the president of the
National Bird-watchers Society...who accidentally ruined a
book...and ends up dead during the gala. Who murdered him
and why? Why does Brooklyn keep finding bodies? There are
always books involved. Her parents’ spiritual leader
told her that she was here to speak for the dead. That gives
one perspective.
Oh how I love this series! Kate Carlisle has come through
again with yet another riveting story. I am such a book geek
that, when there is a book about someone who restores books
and solves murders and it's done in an intelligent manner,
I am just over the moon!
I have to admit that I'm also thrilled that this is a hard
cover edition. I love holding a solid steady book in my hands
while reading about a character who restores books. It's simply
perfect!
If you've not yet discovered or read any other books in this
series-- it's fine to start with this one, but I can almost
guarantee you'll be running to catch the first nine!
