Patterson and co-author DiLallo bring Patterson fans a new and intriguing series. The main character is a French detective named Luc Moncrief. New York’s 17th precinct sees Detective Moncrief as a rich French kid playing detective in the US of A, even though Moncrief brings his own expertise in international drug smuggling, sales and homicide to the job. He’s also compassionate, as we see when he’s called to investigate a shop lifter; he gives the boy some much needed advice and lets him go. Moncrief is also known for his expensive wardrobe and being consistently late for important meetings. This time he’s late for a special stake out on Madison Avenue. His current case deals with prostitutes, so expect some explicit content. Moncrief’s partner gets too deep into the case and it doesn’t’ go well. His new partner, Katherine Burke, helps him work the case, and just when Moncrief thinks it’s over, another loss sends him reeling. Moncrief offers to pay his way back to Paris to research an old case that may be linked to the current one, and he takes K Burke with him. Readers/Listeners will discover Paris is where the action is….

Jean Brassard, well-known Canadian actor, narrates the audio version. His French accent successfully brings Patterson’s rich, handsome detective to life. Brassard is also one of three narrators on Patterson’s current audiobook, Private: Paris. The next Moncrief title in the Bookshot series is The Christmas Mystery. Can’t wait to see this series in a full novel.
