Shannon Hammer is a successful building contractor living and working in Lighthouse Cove. Her younger sister, Chloe, is returning home for a visit after ten years away in California, where she has a popular home repair show on the Home Builders Network. She’s come home to film some episodes featuring not only her hometown, but her sister, Shannon, as she works her magic restoring Victorian style houses.

As you might expect the Hollywood crew live a totally different lifestyle than those in coastal Lighthouse Cove. There is a lot of stress and competition, and the show’s executive producer, a woman named Bree, takes pleasure in upsetting people in and beyond her orbit. When Bree is killed, law enforcement casts a wide net in the search for a killer. Chloe and the whole crew are suspects.

Is Shannon going to be the one to catch a killer before the killer catches her? Will Chloe stay in town once this is all over? Or at least come home more often than once every ten years?

This is yet another intriguing mystery chock full of personable characters, subplots and enough suspects and clues to keep the reader's eyes glued to the pages while mentally putting the pieces together.

As usual, you can’t go wrong when you pick up a book by Kate Carlisle. She has sharp writing skills and uses them to perfection. So pull up a chair, get yourself comfy and settle down to a visit to Lighthouse Cove.

On a related note, the Hallmark channel has several mystery movies based on these books and Jewel is the star. I confess that I’ve not seen any of them yet, but they look worth checking out. I’m sure I’ll be one of those people who says “The book was better.” because I am blindly loyal to the written word.
