In this fifth entry in the Victoria Square Mystery series, Katie Bonner is busier than ever. It is the Christmas season and she’s working hard to get Artisans Alley ready, her former mother in law Margo wants to visit for a couple of days, and then Vonna Barnett, daughter of Francine Barnett, was murdered. Francine owns the local teashop, Afternoon Tea, has been planning to sell it and wants Katie to buy it. Once again, Katie is hot on the trail of a killer. But will she find the killer or get herself in hot water trying?

This is a series I’ve liked from the start. For the last book, Dead, Bath, and Beyond author Lorraine Barlett collaborated with Laurie Cass. This time she co-writes with Gayle Leeson. I have noticed this becoming a trend for some mystery series, and although I initially didn’t warm to it, I’m all for it now if it extends the life of a beloved series by injecting some fresh writer’s blood. So to speak.

I enjoyed the mystery itself, the character interaction and the holiday theme. With proper pacing, timely events and an assortment of small-town characters, this is a great book to gift to your mystery-loving friends and family. But don’t forget to get a copy for yourself!
