Casey Claybourne is a prolific writer of romance. I have never found myself bored while reading one of her books. Her latest historical romance, A Thing of Beauty, is a sweet passionate treat. It takes place just after the Regency era.

Belinda Croft is twenty-two and single. She prefers it this way. Her mother is dead, her father Octavious is painfully shy, and other then the direction of her Aunt Phoebe, Belinda has lived life her way. That is, until Aunt Phoebe begged her to accompany seventeen-year-old cousin Sissy to her coming out. Sissy is excited about the grand party and once again seeing a dashing Viscount she recently met. After disparaging the needlessness of these rituals, Belinda agrees because she loves her aunt and cousin.  Once there, her goal is to escape. On the verge of fleeing, she is stopped by a dashing dark figure. Unaware that he has the wrong woman, he kisses her and reveals a personal secret.

Marcus Barrow has seen it all when it comes to women trying to capture a title and riches. When Fredrik Bruce, the Viscount Stroud, comes to London for his first season having just come into his title, the mother contacts Marcus with a request for him to watch over her young, naïve son. Reluctantly he does. Knowing all the tricks of the female sex, he’s ready when Sissy not only vies for Fredrik, but also works to push him together with her cousin Belinda -- the same Belinda that has created a new beauty cream that is the latest rage of the ton. A cream he doesn’t believe is real. When the Prince hears Marcus’ opinion he comes up with an idea. One Marcus thinks he will enjoy proving.

The historical atmosphere is suburb. The characters dialog and the descriptions of the era were wonderful. A Thing of Beauty is an amusing love story with charming characters that learn lessons about freedom, love, misunderstandings, and what really matters in life – trust.
