Jeremi Kruger is struggling to make her business run smoothly. Daniel Chase-Meyers is an ex-convict just out after serving six years for killing his wife and injuring her lover.

When Jeremi fires her one and only employee, she needs a replacement, and fast. Easier said than done. Or so she thinks. Daniel, running away from his family, and disenchanted with the world, takes a few minutes away from brooding to help Jeremi, when he comes across her struggling to do the job of two men.

When things start to happen, suspicion falls on Jeremi’s former employee, but he isn’t the only villain in this book. There’s someone more powerful and a lot less sane out to get Daniel and she’s willing to go through Jeremi to get to him.

I wouldn’t call this book a suspense novel because after the first two chapters the reader knows who the villains are. But it’s still a really good read. The author keeps things interesting and the romance is the perfect touch. We see Daniel change from a cynic to someone infinitely more approachable and open.

Jeremi also grows as a person and learns to accept help from others. There are a couple of scenes with her family that give the book more depth than it would have other wise had. But I was left wishing there had been more about Jeremi’s many brothers. So much was said about them and they were a huge factor in Jeremi’s life and the main reason she was hesitant to ask for help when she needed it.

Emma Kennedy has created a fabulous story filled with thrills, chills and love.
