Tempered Hearts is the first in a series of four novels by Louisiana writer Pam Thibodeaux.  The second book in the series, Tempered Hearts.

When Texas rancher Craig Harris III and veterinarian Tamera Collins met, the sparks that flew were not sparks of romance.  Harris had publicly criticized her for leaving her horse in a hot trailer while she dined in cool comfort, not knowing about the fans in the trailer that kept its occupant comfortable.  She publicly threw a glass of water in his face for his criticism.  The folks in Bandera thought it was high time someone put the young, arrogant cowboy in his place.  But when Tamera found out he was also the man that had hired her as a vet for his ranch for the summer, she wasn't so sure her temper hadn't gotten her into more trouble than she could handle.

At the ranch, however, she found that it was his grandfather, Adam Craig Harris, Sr., that had hired her, and he thought the diner episode amusing. He also saw something else - the dark haired, gray-eyed rancher and the blonde, blue-eyed veterinarian thought more of each other than either was willing to admit.  But how could they work things out with such an inauspicious beginning?

Tempered Hearts is the heartwarming story of two lovers who are hurting. They must first learn to trust God before they can begin to heal.  Only then can they find a way to love each other.  I've seen many good couples have happy marriages when they do things God's way.  I've seen many strong marriages fail without Him.  Thanks, Pam, for the reminder.
