By Susan
Crandall
Leigh Mitchell
has been sheriff for a couple of years now in the sleepy town of
Glen Crossings. As her thirtieth birthday approaches, she feels
like life is passing her by. She's beginning to feel strangled by
the monotony of each passing day. That's all about to change.
Brittany
Wilson is the town's wild child. She's eighteen years old. Trouble
looking for a place to happen. Her father recently ran off with
a woman half his age. Brittany was always the apple of her daddy's
eye. Not anymore. Trying to get his attention back, she slinks around
town, scantily clad and cuddling up to older men. Now all of her
flirting with danger has finally caught up with her. Late one night
her empty car is found, window smashed, motor running. Brittany
has vanished.
Will
Scott is a man on the run. He's haunted by nightmares of his past.
He drifts from town to town, never daring to stay for long. As a
child, he briefly stayed in Glen Crossings with his great aunt.
It's one of few places of which he has happy memories. Now fate
has brought him back.
Some find it odd that the first serious crime to happen in many
years occurs right after a stranger comes to town. Who could doubt
that there's a connection? Only the sheriff, who's falling in love
with the handsome stranger.
This
book moves along at a nice pace and the sexual scenes are quite
steamy! I found the conclusion of Brittany's saga to be somewhat
disappointing, but the final climax of the book made up for it.
Overall, this is a pretty good book.
