Dark Challenge
By Christine Feehan

Classic Feehan with a delightful mix of fright and romance combined.

Julian Savage carries on the dark and brooding creed of the Carpathians in the fifth book of the "Dark" series but with a bit more humor in his immortal limbs. Although his will to continue his inhuman existence is almost at an end, our hero does not hesitate to carry out the command he is given by his prince. He hopes that after this final battle he will be able to end his reign as a hunter and meet the daylight with bravery.

He is sent to protect Desari-a beautiful woman and entrancing vocalist. The notes from her golden voice bewitch Julian and draw him closer to the woman he has vowed to protect with his own immortal life. He finds out that the mystical performer is not only worthy of his protection but is also his life mate. She gives him back his reason to go on when their bond turns his gray life into a colorful explosion. When she is attacked during a concert, he goes up against human and not-so-human odds-in the form of leopards.

As Julian fights to win Desari, a dark secret of his own and an enemy who would like nothing better than to see him dead haunt him. When the lady of his heart finally succumbs to his heartfelt cries of love, the passion they share rock the very earth they slumber in.

Ms. Feehan again excels as Mistress of Darkness in Dark Challenge. Her use of secondary characters gives her readers insight into what her next book could be. No doubt, this book explodes with sizzling scenes and nail biting pages.
