Where's
Michelle?
By Chris
Glover
When
the bus en route to her hotel is involved in an accident, Julie
Leighton wakes up in the hospital to find her 11 year old daughter,
Michelle, is missing. When last seen, Michelle was in the company
of two supposed plain clothes men.
Detective
Inspector Simon Winter, special undercover officer appointed to
protect members of the British government, has been assigned to
watch Julie.
She is the
wife of Victor Leighton, who was believed to be blackmailing Britain's
star politician. When Victor was found dead floating in the Thames,
Julie is suspected of coming to London to retrieve the package containing
the blackmail evidence so she can take up where Vic left off.
Julie is unaware
of Vic's activities and is only interested in finding Michelle.
Simon
finds himself deeply involved with Julie.
Together
they uncover clues which lead to the past involving the popular
politician and Vic. It is a desperate search which involves the
duplicity of Simon's own police.
This
is a tale of one adventure after another with two engaging likeable
people. The chemistry between Julie and Simon is electric and has
its humorous moments.
The
plot is well written. The action moves smoothly and swiftly. The
dialogue is crisp and witty.
A very
enjoyable read.
