Best Laid Plans
By Gerri Shepard
Devilishly
delightful!
"Amy
loves Nick!" Amy Gilbert first wrote the sentiment in her teenage
diary, and more than ten years later her feelings haven't changed.
All she needs to do is get Nick to realize he feels the same about
her--before she loses the chance forever.
Nick
Granger has calculated his every move. The offer from a Midwest
football team to be their cheerleaders’ physical therapist
is one step away from his dream job: working with the team. Now
that his goal is within reach, why does success feel so empty?
Best Laid
Plans centers around Amy's sometimes subtle, occasionally disastrous,
but always ill-conceived attempts to seduce Nick, who struggles
valiantly against his attraction to his best friend's sister.
Ms. Shepard's
premiere novel is fast-paced and fun-filled. Her easy writing style
kept this reviewer glued to the story, dying to see what craziness
the heroine planned next and how much time would elapse before the
hero would follow his heart. Well-done descriptions kept the characters
grounded without overshadowing the plot. Nick is masculine in thought,
word and deed. Despite her machinations, Amy is guileless and sweet.
The bantering between them is a natural fit, considering their long-standing
friendship. Sexual tension sizzles; I never realized ironing could
be so stimulating! My only complaint: The story ended way too soon!
