Danger Is Sweet
By Cornelia Amiri
Bethoc's plan to assassinate
Kenneth McAlpin, the Scottish king for the death of her father and
betrothed, goes awry when Malcolm the king's cousin stops her. When
the handsome warrior doesn't kill her on the spot she finds that
his kind eyes and perfect physique sends waves of desire and trepidation
coursing through her veins.
Malcolm doesn't
know what to do with the bow-wielding lady warrior. Her silky hair
and lithesome form make him want more from her than he is able to
give in return. She would flee from him if she knew the truth of
what he was and where he came from. It would probably be for the
best that he put the sultry Bethoc out of his mind, and possibly
even his heart.
Bethoc and Malcolm
are united in a hand-fasting ceremony to prevent the lady warrior
from being executed for her crimes. Together they learn to love
and find that the difference in a Pict princess and a Scottish warrior
can be overcome.
When Bethoc
is injured, Malcolm realizes that in order to save his beloved,
he may well have to share his secret with her. Bethoc's discovery
that she has wed a Selkie, a mystical and mythical sea creature,
throws her off balance. She pushed Malcolm away and fears she may
have pushed too far.
Ms. Amiri's flair
for fantasy, coupled with historical facts and an eye for detail,
make Danger Is Sweet an emotionally charged and spellbinding
novel.
