The Man Behind the Mask
Silhouette Special Release
By Christine Rimmer

Dulcinea Samples is an aspiring writer. Her best friend Brit's is scheduled to be married. She wants to be part of her special day so she travels from her Los Angeles home to the tiny kingdom of Gullandria. Brits' life as a princess is one in which fairy tales are created. At one of the social events given to celebrate her up and coming marriage, she meets Brit's brother Prince Valbrand. Although he has suffered greatly, she's able to see past his scars through his haunted eyes that he is so worthy of love.

Prince Valbrand's face was horrifically scarred when an assassination attempt was made on his life. His thoughts are filled with seeking vengeance against the one responsible for altering his life. When he meets his sister's best friend, Dulcinea, he sets aside his plans of revenge to explore the new found feelings quickly capturing his heart. He knows the growing love that's developing is forbidden, for he is destined to wed one of royal blood.

As a madman lurks in the shadows, he sees the new found love as a primary target to finish what he started. How he will use the love as a pawn is yet to be discovered.

Christine Rimmer's The Man Behind the Mask is by far the best romance I have read yet in 2004. This modern day Beauty and the Beast theme will have you shedding tears of joy as these two deserving people battle all the obstacles that are trying to block their destiny. The words are so beautifully written, they will haunt your thoughts long after you finish the last enduring page. Very highly recommended.
