Ace of Hearts
House of Cards trilogy, No. 1
by Barbara Metzger
When Alexander "Ace" Endicott, Earl of Carde, decides it is time to do his duty by finding
a wife and producing heirs, he never expected to find himself engaged to three different
women. He refuses to be trapped into marriage, and so he takes the only way out - he leaves
town.
Ace is determined to fulfill a vow to his father and sets out to find the sister that
was kidnapped years before. An angry goose, a lovely lady, a shady brother, an aunt that
speaks with ghosts, and a woman determined to drag him to the altar are only the beginning
of his adventures.
Will Ace find the love he's been searching for or end up in a marriage of convenience?
Will he solve the mystery of his sister's kidnapping?
Barbara Metzger's novel is a fun and lighthearted romp. My only complaint was that
I would have liked the heroine Nell to be a little more spirited. The colorful secondary
characters were one of my favorite parts of this book. Overall, Ace of Hearts is
a whimsical and sweet tale. |
