The Convenient Bride

by Teresa McCarthy

Poor Lord Clayton lost all his money in a bad venture. Now he has a chance to inherit a castle and all the wealth that comes with it. But to do so he must make the ultimate commitment - marriage, something he doesn't take lightly. His siblings find humor in the situation and are hesitant in helping him find a convenient bride.

Dear Lady Briana lost the man she loved to a career and a historical battle. Briana takes up residence with her godmother and works secretly for Whitehall. Because of her past experience with love and her exciting job, Brianna swears she will never marry.

When Clayton and Briana cross paths, Clayton ponders the possibility of a proposal, while Briana prepares a refusal. It's a romantic dance of "will he or won't he," to her "maybe she will; maybe she won't."

McCarthy pens sweet, humor-laced regencies. The plot is somewhat typical, but carries its own style and the lead characters are charismatic. Once I stepped into Clayton and Briana's world, I couldn't leave. Highly Recommended.

I'm still a fan of Signet Regency Romances. The reason being, they never change. They're still romantic, still clever, and still a wonderful way to spend a quiet evening.
