Forgive The Wind

by Cindy Holby

The death-defying explosion sent Caleb Connor's world spinning quickly out of control as he was propelled into a world of total darkness. He awoke and could immediately sense that his life would never be the same as it was before the accident. The war had cost him dearly-an uncertain future and a missing leg. He doubts his ability to function as he once did when he returns to his life on the ranch in Wyoming. His determination has him proving that he is still the man he once was to the ones he loves. He pushes himself beyond reason by answering the relentless demands of the daily duties of the ranch. While trying to corral a cow and calf he finds himself once again being struck by tragedy as he is pinned between the shoot. The last sound he hears is his good leg breaking. The last conscious thought he has is his silent prayer to not take his remaining leg.

Amanda Myers finds that fear has become a constant companion to her existence. Being held captive and forced to serve in a local house of ill repute has left a definite distrust of people in her life. She takes each day as a stepping stone in rebuilding what she has lost through thinking about the love and support of her close knit family. When a chicken pox epidemic becomes an immediate threat, all hands are busy trying to keep it under control. She finds that her help is required to care for Caleb Conner who is suffering from a broken leg. His care is entrusted to her and she is determined not to let her family down-no matter how much the fear threatens to consume her thoughts. Through caring for Caleb she sees that he is different from the men she has been forced to endure. His kindness and caring attitude has her believing there is good in the world.

Two wounded souls, two hopeful hearts-with help from their friends they will find a joy that can soar above all life's troubles.

This is an outstanding example of a book that will stay with you many days after you finish the last page. This memorable book is part of a magnificent family saga. Its pages cry out for the opportunity to be made into a Hallmark Movie. The characters are so fully developed you will quickly invite them into your own life. As I finished reading this book I wondered how on earth I had missed the previous novels. I predict this book is one that will have a very long and lasting potential. Very highly recommended.
