Stranger In Town
Harlequin Superromance No. 1278

by Brenda Novak

Hannah Price is forever haunted by the one night that changed her life. Fearing for her children's safety, when her ex-husband took them without her permission, she sets out on an icy road to try and stop them. When a car in front of her slows her progress she makes a split second decision to pass on a blind curve. As she accelerates around the vehicle, she collides head on with football legend Gabe Holbrook.

Gabe Holbrook never knew what hit him, as he saw his dreams of a lucrative football career shatter before his very eyes. The accident left him a prisoner in a wheelchair and presents an uncertain future. He shuts himself off to the public in an isolated cabin far away from society. It is the only way he can deal with the devastating blow that has rocked his world.

Gabe returns to the living when a friend needs his help to coach a high school football team. He knows how the town of Dundee prides itself on having a winning team, but he is reluctant to accept the position, for he doubts his ability. His friend plays on his deepest emotions and convinces him to give it a try. As Gabe is going over the list of the team's players, he stumbles upon a name that causes him moments of hesitation. One of his key players is the son of the woman responsible for the accident that paralyzed him.

Brenda Novak is an author who always delivers a top notch romance to her readers. With each book she creates, I grow more in love with her writing style. Stranger in Town is another deeply moving emotional experience. I have yet to be disappointed in any of Ms. Novak's offerings. Each one comes with high anticipation and ALWAYS earns a place on my keeper shelf. Very highly recommended.
