Animal Instincts

by Gena Showalter

Naomi has been hired to plan a birthday party for the mother of corporate big-shot Royce Powell. There's only one problem. The receptionist won't let her in to see him. After cooling her heels in his reception area for over an hour, Naomi is finally granted access to the office of the man himself... where she promptly falls in love... or at least into serious lust.

Lust, yeah that's it. Love is for the birds. Her father proved that the many times he cheated on her mother. Her ex-husband confirmed it with his many flings. Men are all cheating scum! But my, what a handsome scumbag Royce is!

Pulling her mind reluctantly out of the bedroom, Naomi attempts to discuss business. Royce appears to be more interested in flirting. Ultimately they reach consensus on the party, but as Naomi begins to leave, she clumsily knocks over a stack of papers. Royce, as fate would have it, is in the market for a wife. He's literally been taking applications for the position. Royce makes an executive decision. He is going to marry Naomi.

Royce sets out on his quest. He romances Naomi relentlessly, but she knows from experience that men can never be trusted. Just as Royce is making progress, just as Naomi is thinking that she may have found a diamond in the rough, her mom drops a bombshell. Naomi's stepfather, the only trustworthy man in the entire universe, is cheating on her mother. If a boring shrink can't be trusted, a sexy, billionaire like Royce certainly can't.

Will Naomi ever learn to trust Royce? Should she even try? A simple fling could be a nice diversion. A mind-blowing, unforgettable, wonderful diversion! Ah, but Royce is determined to convince Naomi that she can trust him.

Stepping away from her usual paranormal style, the author proves that she is the master of any subject she chooses to tackle. A book by Ms. Showalter is always a treat and this one is no exception. Filled with expert storytelling, page melting sex and touches of humor, this is a fantastic book!
