Awaiting the Night

by Donna Lea Simpson

Donna Lea Simpson weaves a unique and spellbinding tale in Awaiting the Night. I was "bewitched" from page one. This is truly an enchanting and captivating novel.

For Melisande Davidovich, frightened and devastated over the murders of her mother and grandmother, Wolfram Castle has been a safe haven. The large castle, surrounded by dark forests, is a cold and formidable place. It holds secrets and a long history of violence. Since arriving at Wolfram Castle, more than two years ago, Melisande has been haunted by fear and plagued by nightmares of wolves.

Count Kazimir Vasilov and Count Gavril Roschkov are clearly adversaries in their hunt for the chalice they believe Melisande's father, Mikhail Davidovich, stole from a Church in Constanta, Romania. They arrive at Wolfram Castle within hours of each other. This treasure they seek is dangerous and whoever gets it will wield its mighty power.

Kazimir is tall, dark and intriguing. A scar on his upper lip and left cheek distract from his good looks. Melisande is both repulsed by and attracted to him at the same time. Both emotions are warring within her. Kazimir is bewitched by Melisande and fears falling further under her spell of enchantment.

When Melisande is taken captive by a madman in the forest outside of Wolfram Castle, Kazimir risks life and limb to save her. The mysteries at Wolfram Castle begin to unravel and secrets come to light.
