Double Deception

by Heather Reilly
(aka Amy O'Connor)

Sonya Mitchell works undercover and she's good at what she does -working alone. When her operations controller, Lawrence Low, asks her to be part of a new team, she isn't certain she can work with several other agents, especially not with a handsome agent like David Knight, assigned by Lawrence to ensure her protection during their covert operation.

Her first assignment is to work with David to discover the mole in their midst - one who works for an enemy organization - the AFM. When the assignment is a success, Lawrence relays their next mission: They are to investigate Hindelay Water and prove the company has ties to the AFM. Lawrence makes arrangements for Sonya to accept the position of confidential secretary to the CEO, George Ericson. David, an expert in protection and hostage negotiation, acts as her brother to stay in constant contact and offer protection, should she need it. Meanwhile, the other members of the team head for the Hindelay Water treatment facilities, seeking evidence that ties Hindelay Water to the AFM.

Sonya soon gains the confidence of her new boss and learns of political payoffs and shady deals. David soon becomes a good friend and Archer Chapman, an expert in explosives and sabotage, starts paying her attention. But is Archer truly interested in her? And can Sonya fight her growing attraction to David?

Then Sonya discovers that someone has gone through her desk and the CEO acts distant. She's certain she did nothing to make anyone suspicious. But when she's attacked and Archer is kidnapped, it's clear to all that Sonya is in danger, and the possibility of a second mole existing in their midst is all too real. Will they discover the identity of the second mole? More importantly, will David be able to protect Sonya?

Double Deception by Heather Riley is a thrilling novel of intrigue, romance and espionage. I thoroughly enjoyed the intriguing plot and developing romance, and Sonya's character is extremely well developed, especially regarding her doubts about whom she could trust. If you like a fast-paced romantic suspense, don't miss this one! It's a definite keeper!
