For the Love of a Pirate

by Edith Layton

For the Love of a Pirate is a well written novel by Edith Layton with good character development and likeable characters.

The prim and proper Lord Constantine Wylde proposes to Miss Winchester, whom he believes would be the "proper" bride. Shortly after his proposal to Miss Winchester, a pirate (Captain Bigod) shows up at his house and informs him that he is engaged to another. Captain Bigod was a friend of Constantine's father, a father Constantine never knew. At Constantine's birth his father promised his son’s hand in marriage to Captain Bigod's granddaughter (Lisabeth).

Constantine seeks to learn more about the father he never knew. As he spends time with the Bigod's unconventional family he learns about his ancestry. More importantly he learns about himself.

An endearing story of transformation.
