I See You

by Holly Lisle

Dia Courvant lives for her job as a paramedic. Four years earlier, she was called to the scene of an accident and rescued the sole survivor, only to find her husband dead among the victims. Dia has continued on as a paramedic, and the rest of the squad has become like her family. They brave the gruesome accidents together, and these are becoming more and more frequent. These accidents look ordinary, but they are happening at the worst possible times - rush hour - and often involve multiple vehicles and fatalities. Detectives start showing up at the accident scenes and Homicide Detective Brig Hafferty catches her eye.

Brig and his partner suspect that these horrible accidents aren't really accidents at all - they were caused by bombs. Brig feels an attraction for the independent paramedic and leaves her his business card. When Dia calls him a short time later, sounding terrified, Brig rushes over.

Someone is delivering flowers and cards to Dia's house. The strange thing is that none of her patients would know where she lives. Before long, more creepy things start happening - her answering machine messages are erased, and threatening messages show up on her bathroom mirror when the room is full of steam. When Brig and Dia discover that the bomber and her stalker may be the same person, they set out in a race against time to find the culprit before he strikes again. Only this time his target isn't random drivers - it's Dia.

I See You is a smart and fast-paced thriller with a touch of the paranormal thrown in. Prepare to be up all night with this page turner! Dia and Brig have sizzling chemistry and their characters have a lot of substance. Holly Lisle is fast becoming one of my favorite authors for romantic suspense.
