Jewel of Atlantis

by Gena Showalter

Grayson James is an agent of the Otherworld Bureau of Investigations. He has been sent to Atlantis to find the Jewel of Dunamis. This jewel is a powerful item that can detect lies and even predict the future. The OBI must have the jewel or the jewel must be destroyed.

Ever since Gray's arrival he has been hunted nightly by vampires, demons, and dragons. While trying to evade the creatures he hears a sultry voice warn him that he is about to step into quicksand. Distracted, he soon finds himself knee-deep. Gray learns the woman's name is Jewel and he realizes that she is speaking to him telepathically. Jewel helps Gray free himself from the quicksand.

Suddenly Gray is attacked by demons and vampires. Jewel teaches him to defeat the monsters.

Wounded and needing rest, Gray follows Jewel's directions to a farmhouse. During the journey, Jewel tells Gray that she is being held captive and asks him to rescue her. Gray doesn't want to stray from his mission, but as hours pass, Jewel's sensuous voice wears away at his resolve. Eventually he agrees to free her if she will help him find the object that he seeks.

Two days later, Gray arrives in the city to find Jewel a prisoner of demons. He rescues her, but now they are both being hunted by a host of nasty creatures.

If Gray and Jewel can reach the Temple, Gray can retrieve the stone and he can return to safety on the surface. Gray realizes that he is falling in love with Jewel and he is determined to take her with him when he returns home.

In spite of numerous clues, it takes forever for Gray to realize that his Jewel is the same jewel that he has been sent to retrieve or destroy.

This book is a page-turner. It is filled with laugh-out-loud humor and pant-out-loud scenes of sexual abandon. Characters from the author's other books are revisited, which is always fun. This is an awesome book!
