The Penalty Box

by Deirdre Martin

Katie has a year long sabbatical to write a book about sports and the male identity. She decides to return to her hometown to write her novel and moves back in with her mother to help look after her nephew Tuck while her sister is in rehab.

Katie was an overweight brainiac in high school and is mortified to learn that her mother signed her up to attend her ten-year reunion. She decides to go to show everyone who she has worked so hard to become - slim, sexy, and successful.

Paul Van Dorn is a hometown hero. A former professional hockey player whose career ended due to a series of concussions, he relives his glory days as the owner of a local sports bar, The Penalty Box. When he runs into Katie at the reunion, he is shocked to find that the girl he used to call "Bubble Butt" is now a sensation.

With Paul is still living in the past and Katie refusing to go back, do these two have a chance at a future together?

The Penalty Box is an endearing, smart, and sexy novel. Deirdre Martin introduces some emotionally compelling characters, my favorite of which is Katie's nephew Tuck. Fans of Deirdre Martin's will love this sweet hockey romance.
