Played

by Barbara Freethy

Christina Alberti is an expert at her job as an art historian and gemologist, which is why she is a jewelry specialist at Barclay Auction House.  However, everything is thrown into turmoil when she has to wear the Benedetti Diamond to the preview party. Not only did she not want to wear it, she has been approached by FBI Agent J.T. McIntyre, who tells her that someone is out to steal the diamond.  Christina believes there is no way anyone can get to it.  However when her UCLA professor touches the diamond it falls into his hand. No sooner does Christina get it back than everything goes crazy, as there is smoke coming into the room.

JT knows someone is going to steal the diamond, and he is sure it is the man he has been after for years.  Now with Christina in the picture, he is not sure if she is really as innocent as she seems or is she working with the thief.  Although Christina acts as if she is willing to help, JT can tell that she is hiding something.

Played is a remarkable story that readers will love from page one.  Ms Freety has given readers a mystery full of secrets and romance.  Each character in this magnificent story will come to life on the pages, in a way that will pull a reader into the story.  This is one book that this reviewer truly enjoyed reading. Magnificently written story with wonderful characters.
