Soulful Strut

by Lynn Emery

Soulful Strut is a very moving book presenting many challenges for the heroine along the way, but Monette Victor would not stray from her path.  She was going to prove that she was innocent of the crime she was imprisoned for, but not without a lot of hoops to jump through along the way.  Monette decided that her new life was more important to her than anything else, and she would do anything she could to rise out of the stereotype of being a black girl from the wrong side of the tracks.  Monette would strive to achieve the life that she messed up more than 15 years earlier.  She would not continue to be a burden on society, nor would she ever rely on anyone again for her happiness.  Deciding to make a clean go of life provided her with a strength she didn’t even know she possessed, and it would continue to move her forward to her ultimate goal, her freedom.

This book will show all of us the trials and tribulations we find in our own lives, and I would recommend it as a very moving and worthwhile novel.  You will feel the strength you need to look toward the future and strive to achieve your dreams.  The courage and strength that Monette Victor possesses will encourage you to follow your heart and continue to move in a direction that makes you proud.  This book was well worth reading and I would place it at the top of my must read list.
