Swift Horse

by Cassie Edwards

Marsha Eveland had begun traveling with her parents to see her brother in Kentucky, but before they arrive at her brother's they are attacked by renegades and her parents are killed. Marsha will never forget the attack, nor will she forget the one-eyed man who murdered her parents. Upon finally arriving at her brother's home, Marsha will have to get used to being around Indians, as her brother is in love with the Creek chieftain's sister, Soft Wind, and even though she knows it's not right, she can't help being a little afraid--after all it was Indians that killed her mother and father. As she learns more of the little community, she comes to realize how silly she has been, especially when she starts having feelings for the Chief of the Creek, Swift Horse.

Swift Horse is long on patience and knows that he will need plenty to win the woman he has come to love. He understands that what she went through has made her skittish around his people. When Marsha comes to him in fear when she sees the man she thinks killed her parents, he is ready to help until she tells him who it is. He just cannot believe his best friend, One-Eye, could be a cold-blooded killer. So he assumes she has just mistaken the one eyed man for the one she sees.

Marsha knows she has to get her brother and Swift Horse to believe her about the man they call One-Eye. She has seen the way he looked at her and knows that if she cannot get someone to help, he will kill her, too.

Swift Horse is a magnificent Cassie Edwards story that you will not want to miss. I sat down with the plans of reading this book in a week, but once I got started, I just could not put it down, and read the whole thing in one night. As always, you will not be disappointed with picking up a new Cassie Edwards book.
