Time to Run

by Marliss Melton

Sara Garrett's life is made a living hell by her husband, U.S. Navy JAG Captain Bartholomew Garrett. His controlling attitude bleeds over to the treatment of their ten year old son, Kendel. With each passing day his mental abuse intensifies to the point of emotional cruelty. Fearing for her and Kendal's safety she knows she must find a way to break free of Bartholomew's iron grip. Salvation comes in the form of Chief Petty Officer Chase McCaffrey. She meets him one day while she is waiting for her husband to finish his work day. He asks her to deliver a package to one of the other officers. When he calls to confirm the package's delivery, she begs for his help to be free.

Chase's heart goes out to Sara and her dilemma; Bartholomew's treatment of her and her son Kendal sickens him. He readily agrees to help her plot an escape route to freedom. The trio's plan unfolds and they are able to flee to the safety of Chase's ranch in Oklahoma. He arranges for them to obtain new identities and hopefully a new lease on life. What he doesn't anticipate is the closeness he feels for Sara and Kendal. It is as though he has been gifted with his own family. The newfound love is short lived, for Bartholomew's presence is lurking in the background. Evil is watching for the perfect opportunity to succeed at destroying all that is good.

What sets her writing apart from others is her unique ability to masterfully craft characters with a true to life gritty appeal. Her superb writing talent guarantees readers a high action packed page turner. Very highly recommended.
