To Rescue a Rogue

by Jo Beverley

Lady Mara St. Bride has always been as adventurous as her St. Bride ancestors, which is how she came to be wrapped in a blanket looking for refuge at her brother’s friend, Lord Darius Debenham’s, home. Mara has always thought of Dare as just another brother; however on this night she soon realizes she is having feelings that are no way sisterly. But this Darius is not the same as the one she grew up knowing, as he has changed from the war and the effects of a drug addiction.

Dare has been fighting the demons of opium since he was discovered alive. Although a woman had saved him from his injuries at Waterloo, she had also given him opium until his body couldn’t live without it. However Dare is determined to win the battle, especially after meeting the young Mara again. He knows he cannot be the man for her as he is, but with determination to beat the drug he will have the woman he loves.

To Rescue a Rogue is an excellent novel that will keep readers entertained from cover to cover. Ms. Beverley’s Rogue novels are always a delightful read that will leave readers wanting more. I read the book in one setting, as I just could not put it down until it was finished. Magnificently written story and characters.
