Bidding for Love
by Katie Fforde
When Flora Stanza inherits 51% of Stanza and Stanza, an antique business, from an uncle, she sublets her London
apartment and heads for the countryside village of Bishopsbridge. There she finds that her cousin, Charles, has
inherited 49% of the business. Charles and his fiancee, Annabelle, want to buy out the business. It is a chilly
welcome from the two. More so when Flora refuses to sell.
She lacks any experience and knowledge of the field of antiques, but brings to this business enthusiasm and hope.
To offset the chilly welcome she had received, she joins the local church and enters into the life of the town. She
finds herself attracted to Charles and learns that the feeling is mutual. Problems arise when she can't avoid her
London friend and is pressured with dinner invitations from a handsome resident - not to mention hiding William, her
lodger.
This is a charming and engaging novel. The plot is well constructed and filled with characters who come alive. The
action proceeds at an even pace with romance, intrigue, and family problems. The dialogue is witty and natural. An
enjoyable heart warming story about a young woman who is trying to make a success of her second career. |
