The Continuity Girl

by Leah McLaren

Meredith Moore works in the film industry as a continuity girl. This was a new term to me, but the book explains exactly what they do. They make sure that the takes of a movie are consistent with the takes before and after.  Have you ever watched a movie and caught a mistake?  Well, obviously the continuity girl or guy on that film set wasn’t very good. They missed it and you caught it!

At first, the book starts off rather slowly with many details about Meredith and her career - to the point that you really want to put it down.  But don’t. After the slow start, it improves immensely.  You come to know Meredith and her wacky mother, Irma, intimately.  You meet her best friend, Mish, and you come to like her ways.  You almost feel as if Meredith was put on the earth to bring the world together a bit and make it better.  Unfortunately, Meredith has a lot of searching to do in order to make her life better. Finally she gets everything all figured out and is able to find love for the first time.  It’s a good book. I wouldn’t say it’s the best that I have ever read, but it makes you think about what is right in your life and be thankful that you have what you have.  Give it a try!
