Impetuous Josephine Hale wants to find adventure and the treasure her pirate grandfather and his partner hid long
ago. Unfortunately, she has only half of a treasure map - the other half belonging to her neighbor, Stephen
Doubleday, Earl of Westman. Despite the fact that he is her family’s sworn enemy, she's determined to find the
map’s missing half.
Stephen Doubleday, a resolute rake, has returned from India following the death of his brother. He hopes to
gain the respectability he lost years ago by restoring the family fortune. When Josephine sneaks into his house,
Stephen confronts her. Rather than run away, she tells him she wants to be his lover. Stephen is properly
surprised and confused - until she inadvertently mentions the treasure their grandparents hid.
Realizing the treasure is his means of gaining respectability, they search his house and discover five of the
six journals Stephen’s grandfather kept while he sailed with Josephine’s grandfather on the ship, the Good
Groom. Unfortunately, the journal entries end before the time their grandparents found - and hid - the
treasure.
While the mystery of the treasure’s location grows, so does Stephen’s attraction to the feisty, seductive
Josephine. Her desire to have him as a lover is hard to resist, especially when she insists she will never be
shackled to any man unless he treats her as an equal. Since equality involves trust, it’s a characteristic both
find hard to share, given the feud between their families.
Stephen finally concedes and agrees to work with the spirited Josephine - as partners. Thus begins a treasure
hunt that brings danger neither of them expect, especially when someone tries to kill them.
Good Groom Hunting is an exciting treasure, one filled with edge-of-your-seat danger and an exciting
mystery. I loved Ms. Galen’s delightful humor, steamy romance and heartwarming characters, all of which make this
a book guaranteed to keep the reader turning the pages, longing for more.
