For the past six years Catherine ‘Cat’ Gravefield has been relentless as a vampire hunter. She started on this
quest to rid the world of vampires when she learned that she was the result of her mother being savagely raped
by a vampire. Even though she posses their blood it doesn’t stop her from slaying all that come into her path.
One night a two-hundred year old bounty hunter vampire named Bones manages to outwit her. She learns that he
is a Master Vampire. She is surprised when he doesn’t kill her when he has the upper hand. Instead he makes her
a proposition, offering to lead her to her father in exchange for allowing him to train her to use her skills in
killing the vampires he is targeting. She readily agrees, for the opportunity to find and kill her father would
be the ultimate reward.
Bones and Cat work together to rid the world of vampires. Cat does not fully trust Bones but working alongside
him she sees that he is a worthy opponent - unlike those she usually hunts. She is counting down the days until
she encounters her father face to face. When that day arrives true vengeance will be her sweet reward.
Halfway to the Grave is one exciting novel! Jeaniene Frost has done an outstanding job of introducing
readers to the Night Huntress world. This being the first book in the series, it is assured to be one that
promises a roller coaster of a ride. Her characters are strong and build off each other. The dialogue is quick
and fast paced. This is a definite winner in the paranormal world.
