The Harlequin
Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 15
by Laurell K. Hamilton
Malcolm, head of the Vampire Church of Eternal Life
finds himself with a problem he can't solve alone. An elusive band
known as the Harlequin is threatening to destroy all that he knows.
He realizes it will take a strong and powerful force to go up against
such an evil alliances as the Harlequin. He decides that Vampire
Hunter Anita Blake is the perfect person to help rid the world of
such evil. Although Anita and he have never been close he knows
this type of threat warrants the best in the profession.
Anita is shocked that Malcolm is requesting her
assistance. She is leery that his plea is one that is filled with
hidden motives that involves her lover Jean-Claude. Cautiously she
agrees to help him out of his dilemma but she is determined not
to trust him enough to allow her guard to go down. When a white
mask arrives addressed to her she knows that the Harlequin has found
out of her interference. With the mask being white, the color signifies
they are watching, if she had received a red mask it would be associated
with pain, black would mean certain death.
Anita knows she is in for the greatest challenge
of her lifetime. It will take all of her cunning ability to outwit
such a force of evil. But there are other betrayals that will occur
that she would never had expected. Will she come out of this with
her soul intact?
The
Harlequin is a book that overflows with dark, gritty, paranormal
excitement. This being my first experience with Laurell K. Hamilton,
I could quickly see her talent shine through on each and every
page. This is a book that will leave you guessing with high action
suspense. It takes the paranormal world to a whole new level. To
think this is number fifteen in a series is mind boggling. This
book stands alone by itself but it is refreshing to know that there
is an entire series devoted to Anita Blake. Very highly recommended.
