More than a dozen women in various cities have already fallen victim to the serial killer called The Inquisitor.
The authorities haven't a clue to his identity. He’s organized, methodical, and sure to kill again. His victims
are tortured slowly over several days’ time, and finally die in agony.
Enter the handsome, charismatic Sean Murphy, who is an ex-army Ranger. Sean is sure that this serial killer is
the one who killed his sister, and he has revenge on his mind. After Sean's sister was found murdered, he took in
her two small children to raise. Murphy always kept track of the murders that were attributed to The Inquisitor,
and now he hopes to be one step ahead of the killer. Sean has discovered that Jenna Kincaid, a psychologist from
Birmingham, might be the next victim and hopes that Jenna will lead him to his quarry. But Sean didn't expect to
feel this way about Jenna, and now he just wants to keep her safe. Jenna is just not sure about Sean's motives...is
his desire for revenge greater than his wish to protect her?
The Inquisitor takes great pleasure in unfolding his game little by little and keeping his next intended
victim in a state of terror before her capture. Now Jenna is getting plenty of clues that she will be next.
When a new victim is found dead, everyone realizes that The Inquisitor has changed his usual pattern and
done the unexpected. This body was deliberately placed so that Jenna and Sean would be the ones to find it...a
clear message to Jenna: "Your time is getting near."
This story may be a bit predictable, but is an exciting read nevertheless. Gayle Wilson is a Rita Award winner
and definitely an author you can count on for a galvanizing story. Her characters are believable and compelling.
The love scenes are just right...I fell in love with Sean Murphy, too. The plot is well crafted and designed with
lots of fast action guaranteed to keep you reading long into the night...in a state of terror, with the doors
firmly locked.
