The Land of Promise
A Place to Call Home, Book 3
by Al & Joanna Lacy
The year is
1889 and the Cherokee Nation once again is being forced from their
homeland. This time they are being moved even farther away to a
reservation in Oklahoma in order for white settlers to move in and
claim their land. Many are outraged at this senseless request and
vow to fight for their land. They refuse to allow history to repeat
itself, or for their people to be forced suffer through another
Trail of Tears.
United Cherokee
Nation Chief of Police, Brit Claiborne knows that, in order for
the Cherokee to survive, they must go peacefully to their new designated
homeland. With the support of his wife Cherokee Rose he hopes he
can convince the Cherokee to listen to his pleas in order to ensure
their safety.
As the white
settlers near their new homestead their minds are filled with thoughts
of the great new beginnings that await them in the unclaimed land.
Dreams of rebuilding a new life in the vast uncharted territory
drives them to travel hundreds of miles and leave the only safe
environment they have ever known. What they find will amaze them,
each one brings their own special blend to the Indian Territory.
But the Cherokee Nation is intent on standing its ground. Can the
two different cultures merge into one and live at peace?
The
A Place to Call Home series has been providing me with
a great deal of reading enjoyment for the past few months. Each
one of the heartwarming books will wrap itself around your heart.
There is so much real life emotion that can be felt in these delightful
characters. Each one provides his or her own unique substance to
make this an award winning novel. I would highly recommend that
channels such as Hallmark seriously consider turning this highly
acclaimed series into a series movie. Very highly recommended.
