Darkness transcends the pale moonlight, six mighty warriors gather together, sworn to fight. Truth, justice,
they uphold, with each battle won they know there will be more. Evil forces be forewarned, this sworn legion is
hell-bent on slaying those who threaten their immortal existence.
Vishous's life has always revolved around the darker side. Born to a Bloodletter he learned at an early age
the consequences of utter betrayal. He is a sworn member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood whose primary mission
is rid the world of the Lessing Society. With his special powers he is able to see into the future but often
what he sees is too frightening to reveal. On a hunt for one of the Lessers he finds himself severely wounded.
He is knocked unconscious and is unaware when he is transported to a human hospital. Through the skilled hands
of cardiac surgeon Dr. Jane Whitcomb he is saved from the fade. Her voice is like a soothing energy that gives
him the strength to go on living.
Dr. Jane Whitcomb is the best in her profession. She is torn by the duty to stay with her current position
or to seek something else to help tame her restless spirit. She has applied for a job at a rival hospital and
fully expects to be offered the job when she goes for an interview. One night she gets the surprise of her life
when a gunshot victim arrives and is placed under her care. When she performs the operation that saves his life,
she sees that he has an unusual, six-chambered heart. She feels an immediate need to not leave his side. She
assumes that the tattoos on his face suggest his life is filled with much crime and danger but she finds a
magnetic close bond building whenever she is near him.
While conducting a nightly checkup on her patients she once again finds herself being drawn to her newest
patient. As she enters into his room she finds that he is about to be carted away by a group of men who look
like warriors. She tries to call for help but she is powerless to break free of their hold. She is shocked to
hear her patient insist that she come with them. She finds that instead of being his salvation, she is now a
helpless victim, disappearing into the night.
Jane finds herself locked in an unknown compound with her patient. Miraculously his wounds seem to heal
themselves right before her very eyes. What she is seeing convinces her that he is not of her world. But what
she is about to embark on is beyond her wildest imagination.
J.R. Ward delivers another heart wrenching book, assured to take your breath away. Just when you think this
author cannot get any better, like a magician she is able to pull a book such as Lover Unbound out of her hat.
The last 100 pages of this book will nearly cause you heart failure; this one is one you definitely cannot miss.
Very highly recommended.
