Paper Hearts

by Debrah Williamson

Paper Hearts is a book which will make you cry and by the end of it, you will cry all over again.

Chancy Deel is a young adolescent girl trying to make it in the world on her own, because she was basically thrown away by her mother B.J. Chancy did not know her father, and her mother could not even tell her who her father might be. She had no clue. BJ was into drugs, partying and bringing home strangers, and Chancy was just in the way. Spending many nights and days alone with no adult supervision, Chancy seemed to make it on her own okay. Even when her mom was around, she wasn’t!

One day Chancy decided she had enough of BJ and group homes, so she ran away and ended up in a small Oklahoma town called Wenonah. Have you heard of it? Me neither, but it seemed to fit in nicely with the life Chancy finally makes on her own.

Max Boyle lost the love of his life, Hanna, and now he has to make it on his own at the age of 83. He decided he could not live in a retirement home, so concluded he would end his life peacefully. He made sure everything would be taken care of, wrote a note to his attorney and decided today would be the day he and Hanna would be together again... but not so fast. Something comes up to change his plans and life for good, Chancy Deel.

I mentioned in the beginning of this review how this book will make you cry and cry some more. You will have to keep reading to see what I mean, but if you are anything like me, reading will not be an issue; you will want to do that! This is a very well-written book and you will read every word on every page until its conclusion.
