Tempted in the Night
A Night Slayer Book

by Robin T. Popp

Homicide Detective John Bochler is infuriated at how a known murderer can be set free. His instincts led him to Simon Brody, a prominent society member. Simon’s political influence enabled him to be cleared of any criminal charges. Appalled at the injustice of the legal system Brody decides he needs to clear his head by getting some fresh air. He finds his journey leads him to walking alone in a park. Trouble meets him head on when he spies a sword-wielding brunette who is attacking a man. His police instincts kick into overdrive as he manages to overpower her. He is convinced that her actions indicate her mental instability so he takes her to a hospital for the criminally insane.

Vengeance drives Jessica Winslow to be the best vampire slayer. For each one of the immortal creatures she manages to kill she assigns its death in tribute to the memory of her mother, whose life was cut short too soon by a brutal slaying. She didn’t count on her work being interrupted by a Police Detective. Nor did she foresee being locked away like a common criminal. When she is released she sets out to accomplish her reason for coming to the States, to deliver a sword to her cousin, Charles Winslow, who is the head of the American Night Slayers.

The American Night Slayers is an elite group of vampire hunters. John finds himself there seeking information he can use against Simon Brody. Through Charles Winslow he learns that Simon is a vampire with an insatiable appetite for blood. Also he is surprised to meet Winslow's cousin Jessica, the psycho brunette he had locked up. He finds that Jessica shares the same interest as he does in Simon since he is a vampire. She wants him dead as much as he does; so much so that she is hell bent on seeing that Simon dies by her own hands. This is an honor that he fears that he will have to take away from her. As the two of them work together to find a killer their growing attraction intensifies.
