Two Weeks with a Stranger

by Debra Mullins

While pre-arranged marriages are a thing of the past in most cultures, they still exist in some.  This book is about not a pre-arranged marriage, but a marriage based on marrying into the right family.  Two Weeks with a Stranger is a book about two people choosing to get married to make things look good. While they enjoy each other’s company, they wouldn't say they were in love with each other.  They both think the love part will come as they get to know each other, but it’s hard to get to know your new husband when he goes away the day after you marry him and leaves you in the country home.  Lady Devingham is stuck in a home and country surrounded by people she does not know, while her husband is working in London at a job she doesn't know anything about.  This book will take you from the marriage bed to betrayal and back to the marriage bed.  All the while keeping you rooting for the Lady of the house!

This is a book you will want to read to escape the toils of your everyday life.  While I found it an enjoyable read, fast moving and one that keeps your interest, I also found it to be a bit overdone in some areas. The secret side of the main character, Lord Devingham, was just a bit predictable, as his main job throughout the book was to get on the good side of the beautiful Isabella, proving to her that his marriage to Lady Devingham is just something of a convenience, while his intentions are to provide Isabella with his complete devotion and time.  But Lady Devingham has other plans for the husband who she believes has been cheating on her since their marriage just a mere two weeks earlier. She is going to win him back if it is the last thing she does and prove to both herself and the Lord of the manor that he is indeed in love with her.  Keep reading this book as it unfolds and then folds back into a must read!

You will enjoy this book.
