The human colony of Hope on the planet Hera is threatened by a civil war, caused by lack of food supplies caused by a severe winter.

Its young inexperienced King Vel must fulfill his duties, bringing peace and stability and prosperity to his people. He relies on Lord of the Church Denon and his military adviser, General Wunic, for advice and help to end the conflict.

The only help is a supply of food held at the Frith, their alien enemies. He must deal with Blake, a clone of the English poet, William Blake, who lives inside a computer. He must deal with him without jeopardizing his throne.

This is a look of what Earth's future might be and its fight against evil.

The character of Vel is fully developed with his growth in maturity from a young boy to a man, meeting his challenges forthrightly.

The plot is well developed with swiftly moving events. The characters are portrayed with human emotions and strengths.

An entertaining journey into the future....
