In the year 2152, Natalie Griffin was dying of cancer. Cures were available for rich, intelligent "Achievers," but not for "dumb Welfies." So, her son, John "Quiet" Griffin, decided to steal something from a wealthy Achiever. Instead, he rescued the Starman and his two daughters from an unscrupulous rival that intended to take the Rionglu fortune for himself. As a reward, Quiet was sent to the military academy for an education and Natalie Griffin was cured of her cancer.

Then both Quiet and Lady Anne Rionglu were almost taken by switchers, Achievers who kidnap young Welfies into whose bodies they can have their rejuvenated brains transplanted. Of course, the brain that came with the body is destroyed and the Achiever assumes the Welfie's identity. With their wealth and ownership of the government, they are unstoppable, but Quiet is going to try. Can Quiet and Lady Anne stop switching and keep the Achievers from hogging the new world discovered by the Starman?

THE LAST UNDERCLASS is a nightmarish look at a real possibility. Let's hope compassion will somehow win out over greed. We need to learn that our real treasures are our friends, not the wealth of things people crave. Read THE LAST UNDERCLASS. It might show you just how far greed will go to get a dollar.
